In hostile environments, there is a beauty and danger in resisting forces designed to crush, subdue and control. Today, and throughout history, there are examples of the indomitability of the human spirit to fight back amidst efforts to weaponize fear to intimidate, muffle dissenting voices, force compliance, and embed a culture of silence.
Take Action! Until there are demonstrated efforts toward addressing racism, it’s time to wave goodbye to AFP-GTC

There is a deep resolve among folx who have experienced racism and other forms of oppression and who have all been harmed by a colonized and embedded culture of exclusion [racism]. Today, in the face of resistance and pushback, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Toronto Chapter (AFP-GTC) is at an inflection point in its history. It can courageously choose to take action now to be relevant and serve the diverse constituencies within its membership.
This narrowing window is an offering to acknowledge the current environment, push through efforts to intimidate and grip tightly to the status quo, to seize the opportunity to create something better. Create a present and future that lives up to ideals expressed but which, up to now, continues to miss the mark in terms of actions and positive results.
Make no mistake, the call for action is designed to force the issue because the status quo deeply harms and is untenable. This is unacceptable.
Take Action! It’s time to wave goodbye to AFP-GTC
