While this petition is about specific incidents of racism in the charitable sector, the sector does not operate in a vacuum; incidents like these touch every sector. Racism is that constant hum we all live with and where many have grown so accustomed to it that they are fooled into thinking it’s not there; that it doesn’t really exist. Don’t be fooled.

Racism and other forms of oppression don’t pause or call timeout therefore our efforts to counter and dismantle the systems must be sustained.

The struggle is hard; the road towards equity and justice is long. We must rest and protect our health and wellbeing along the way. Celebrate and savour those moments of splendour, levity and joy, knowing full well the journey must go on. We refill our stores and prepare to move along.
