Are you confused about why the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Toronto Chapter, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global), and the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy- Canada are not talking about what’s transpired in relation to #antiblackracism that transpired against three Black fundraisers in 2019? Let me enlighten you.

Caroline Riseboro the CEO of Trillium Health Partners Foundation has issued a cease and desist letter against all three organizations banning them from speaking on this subject. No one is “allowed” to mention that any anti-Black racism occurred during her tenure on as chair. I am named in that cease and desist and I am not allowed to have a copy of the letter.

In addition, the entire board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Toronto Chapter resigned today.

Instead of apologizing, they would rather quit.

THIS is white-supremacy culture in action. Silence. Shut down. Diminish. Do not take accountability for actions. Everything but apologize.

I am calling on all of the chapters, the boards, the members to stand up and fight against the threats of legal action against Black fundraising leaders and those who seek to support them.

This is NOT good enough. #fundraising
